Quite by accident, I found the complete text of Michael McClintlock's Instruments of Statecraft online: It's a pretty obscure book, but an incredibly important study of how the United States developed and applied special-warfare doctrine (use of death squads, etc.) in third world nations following the Second World War. Useful for understanding how the CIA helped develop the infrastructure for state terrorism that appeared in Latin America during the 60s.
